What is it about us?…
Garbage in our oceans
If you deal with the topic of “garbage in our oceans” for the first time after several confrontations in everyday life, you will be positively and negatively surprised. Negatively surprised one is from the multitude of information, how extremely the garbage obviously already has spread and what here everything facts and knowledge presumably already exists. One is positively surprised by the many people who work to get rid of the garbage and the ever-increasing willingness, even from people from circles, where one would not expect it so easily.
With a laughing and a weeping eye, the abundance of information bursts into one when one realizes that part of the activists are already busy for up to 40 years. It is impressive where people begin because they recognize their vocation. It is impressive how many people here follow their self-responsibility. However, it is also impressive how many developments already exist, which, even if they are unrealistic, can at first be impressively recognized as a futuristic vision.
Then you also realize for the first time how many organizations are involved here. This is usually led by a vocation that springs from a self-reliance. They take advantage of the possibilities and transform the possibilities for them. In addition, the many different world-wide scientific researches are highlighted, which underline the diversity. Much is there and you have the impression that people all in the near future begin to clear the millions of tons from the seas. The end of the suffering seems recognizable and you get the impression that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
But how does this garbage problem define itself ultimately?
In order to really assess the situation, one has to define the past history and make it clear. Whom we ask for the definition, we must also question the origin and the course.
It all started with the interest in rubber, which came about by natural scientists from around 1700 onwards. Since the middle of the 19th century, plastics have been available to people. After the beginnings of polymer chemistry around 1920, the synthetic plastics also spread. The variety of plastics became more and more unmanageable. In 1930, a world-wide production volume of about 10,000 tonnes was produced from a wide variety of plastics, which developed to 1 million tonnes by 1950. So, in 2017, we should expect some 340 million tonnes of production worldwide. Most data of 300 million tonnes are from the years 2012/2013. At this point it should be noted that there are different sources for this information, which were not all the same. We have allowed to use a resource of different sources as there are no verified data. But there are no serious deviations and they come from different orientations.
By 2008, a clear exponential trend can be seen, followed by a non-real, explainable change of course. In the end, the exchange of the exchange does not actually prevent the exponential course. And this brings us to another diagram, the sum of garbage currently distributed in our waters.
This chart is not to be seen as proof or determination of how much real is present! It shows “only” how much garbage in our oceans is possible and explainable. It is based on the 10% formula given by the industry, which means that the average 10% of the annual production is landed in nature because the whereabouts are not clear. The 10-year delayed effect is taken into account. The vague assumptions that explain in different forums between 180 and 700 million t of waste in our oceans is an irresponsible discrepancy.
So it is possible and we see it as an idea that in the oceans 400-500 million t of garbage can be a real size, on which we should orient ourselves. Even the speculations of individual scientists, which can be doubled in the next 4-6 years, is a possible development that should not be minimized. How much it really is or will be, will probably only approximate approximated.
What shall we do?
Without question, the rubbish must go out when the suffering and destruction of nature is to cease. We could wait for the fingers of God, or prepare ourselves mentally and morally for the help of extraterrestrials. Well, both are things that have been tried more frequently in history and which have more or less always ended in nothingness. We need only look at the analyzes of the countless collapses of cultures and civilizations that have disappeared without a warlike act, and there are some. In doing so, the task corresponds precisely to the path to self and to self-responsibility, which many want to find and find in themselves. All previous assets are a sample of this and everything else is just excuses to explain a waiting position.
The primary goal should be to get control of the garbage in the fastest way. This is how we recognize all areas in which animals, such as nature and the environment, are suffering or harm and, above all, their sources. The other way around, what does it use when we get rid of the garbage from the oceans, if he does come back. The strategy can only be achieved if the activities are cleared away from the targets in the direction of sources and from the sources along the way, and new garbage is prevented. At the same time, some marginal areas must not be forgotten.
This, in turn, means getting an overview of this global chaos as soon as possible. We do not ask ourselves where the foundations are, because we see an unimaginable number of activists and organizations around the world. They all, each individual for themselves, have information that should be centralized at one point. This merger and disclosure not only reveals the true extent, but also automatically reveals the requirements. In addition, all activities can be accompanied. This creates an optimization, and many people can recognize their vocation, which they have not yet recognized. The number of activists is increasing and they will become active as far as possible. The possibilities, which so all concentrate on a few points and overlooking areas of influence, goes against zero. In the few cases, those who can not be avoided, then must be justified or consensiert. Regarding the marginal areas that no one wants to touch at the end, solutions must be sought because they exist.
Besides the design of the Okeanos Oceancleans, these tasks also belong within the scope of our possibilities because we also recognize our vocation. These are not the only concepts, but ultimately, internally, all of us internally intertwine and fit into a gigantic network. At this point, we can only try to make these possibilities clear, but we can not use the best abilities, knowledge, skills, possibilities, and the recognized vocation, because they can not be lived.
We can only call for the “global community of humanity” to be set up globally, the beginning of which we have prepared to undertake and implement these tasks. Nothing else in this world is capable of accomplishing what this community can achieve. We can only ask that each one of us supports them in the context of their possibilities, so that this task can be accomplished.
